Mixed Emotions as the new Eritreian Church is launched

Ever since His Grace Bishop Gabriel gave his blessing to St. Aidan's to welcome the Eritreian community at our church, at the time, not having a church nearby of their own, we have been richly blessed at St. Aidan's by these brothers and sisters in Christ. It was with mixed emotions of happiness for them and some sadness for the rest of us that I learned late last year that the community was trying to establish its own church in Greater Manchester. After a preparatory meeting, this has now happened and the new Eritreian Church was launched in the shared Anglican Church of St. John Cheetham Hill, Manchester on the Sunday of St. Thomas. There may be a little time when we shall still see our Eritreian friends at St. Aidan's as the community will not have regular services and a resident priest for some time, but clearly, the situation has now changed for both of us .... all working to God's purpose we pray.
