Wayside Refreshment

Shrine

A member of St. Aidan's, Chris Tsielepi, who lives in Stoney Middleton in Derbyshire has transformed a little crevice in the bank under his home into a little wayside shrine complete with icon.  This is what Chris has written for passers by:-

Welcome to this Orthodox wayside shrine.

Shrines like this are common in countries, such as Greece & Cyprus, where Orthodoxy is the main religion. You may have seen one on your holidays.

Shrines are visited by passers-by, stopping a while, saying a prayer, leaving flowers or lighting a tea-light or a candle.

If you would like to pray try:-

“Lord, Jesus Christ

Son of God

Have mercy on me, a sinner”
